Adventure-loving South Africans know to turn to us for top-quality 4×4 rooftop tents. Our tents are made from the most durable waterproof materials that will stand up to Southern Africa’s most extreme climatic conditions. They easily mount directly to your roof rack or roof bars, and can be fully set up within just a few minutes. This is as important to us as it is to you; our tents do not require hours of energy to set up or take down, so they leave you with more free time to explore and adventure your way through the great African outdoors.
Comfort is important while out on the road. The modern off-road enthusiast does not believe in compromising on modern-day comforts and conveniences in order to enjoy their time outdoors. Because of this, we have designed our tents to allow the user to store two pillows, one duvet and a fitted sheet in the closed tent. Do you know of a single rival product that can do this? We also do not believe in reinventing the wheel, or changing something that works, so we have been using the same tried-and-tested design since 1990.
How Long Do Our Tents Last?
The normal lifespan of our tents will exceed 20 years on the tent, and approximately 4 years on the cover – when permanently exposed to the harsh African sun. Our tents’ flooring has a unique cable support system that supports the tent in an open position. It is just one more reason why thousands of travellers prefer our rooftop and T-top tents.
In addition, our rooftop tent units are supplied with roof condensation liners, as well as rooftop tent mounting racks. To make your journey easier, we also offer a rooftop tent lifting device for easier removal of the tent from your vehicle. T-top tents are available with T-top tent mounting brackets, as well as a bottom mount to add an additional room, along with its T-top tent lifting device.
Our tents have been tested for the effect lightning will have on them, should they ever be struck during a storm. The aluminium and steel base, along with the stainless steel cables and the U-frames, form a protective Faraday cage, distributing the charge in such a way that it does not affect the interior. Put simply, it means that, should the tent ever get struck by lightning, the occupants will stand the best chance of walking away uninjured from such a frightening experience. No other tents anywhere in the world is known to have this feature, which makes your decision to invest in our rooftop tents that much easier to make.
Rooftop Tent Steel Base Frame
We have welded hinges to the frames of our tents, and we purposely did not bolt it to a wooden platform, as a bolt that has been tightened through wood will eventually collapse under prolonged and excessive vibration and pressure. We have designed them this way so that fixing the tent to the roof rack is a lot easier and secure, making it more reliable under extreme off-roading than it would be by putting the bolts through a wooden platform onto the roof rack. All frames are E-coated against corrosion, according to stringent automotive specifications.
The tent’s cover has 12 straps – three on each side. This is to make it possible to apply the stretching force in all directions of the cover’s top section, in order to minimise the ballooning of the cover. It also stops water and dust from entering when it is mounted correctly. These are only a few of the reasons why our rooftop and T-top tents are your first choice when taking on any off-road adventure.
